How to Generate or Reset Bank of India ATM PIN – Step-by-Step Guide

blog

After starting his first job in New Delhi, Divyam was eager to manage his finances and selected Bank of India (BOI) because of its extensive network and dependability. His BOI Debit Card arrived a week later, which marked his entry into adulthood. He went to the nearest ATM to create his PIN since he was eager to use it.

Divyam successfully created his new 4-digit PIN at the ATM by selecting the "Forgot/Create PIN (Green PIN)" option and receiving an OTP on his phone. He strolled out, ready to take on the world, after proudly verifying his PIN. He was now formally on his path to financial independence.

Methods to Generate Bank of India ATM PIN

To accommodate preferences, the Bank of India (BOI) offers several ways for consumers to create or reset their ATM PINs. Here is a thorough summary:

ATM PIN Generation via BOI ATM (Green PIN)

Customers can generate or reset their ATM PIN directly at any BOI ATM by using the "Green PIN" service that BOI offers. Because an OTP (One-Time Password) is provided to speed up the procedure, this technique requires that the customer's mobile number be registered with the bank.

SMS-Based PIN Generation

  • SMS should be sent to 567676 from your registered mobile number.
  • The format for the SMS is PIN. For instance, "PIN 1234 4567"
  • An OTP that remains valid for two days will be sent to you.
  • To generate a new PIN, visit the closest Bank of India ATM and verify the OTP.

Customer Care Service

To generate or reset their ATM PIN, customers can reach BOI customer service using their registered mobile number. An OTP is sent once their identification has been confirmed, and they can use it to set their new PIN at any BOI ATM.

Important Considerations

  • Registered Mobile Number: For all the above methods, the customer's mobile number must be registered with the bank to receive OTPs and notifications.

  • Card Status: The "Green PIN" service is not available for hot-listed (blocked) debit cards. However, it supports active, inactive, and temporarily blocked cards due to incorrect PIN entries. Successfully generating a new PIN will reactivate inactive or temporarily blocked cards.

Bank of India ATM Pin Generation Offline Method

Customers can generate or reset their ATM PINs using a variety of methods provided by the Bank of India (BOI), including offline options like utilising a BOI ATM or going to a branch. A thorough guide to these offline techniques may be found here:

Step 1: Visit the nearest Bank of India branch during working hours.

Step 2: Approach the customer service desk or a bank representative and request assistance for ATM PIN generation or resetting.

Step 3: You may be required to fill out a request form and provide proof to verify your identity.

Step 4: Once your request is processed, the bank will provide instructions or a new PIN, depending on their procedures.

Generating ATM PIN via BOI ATM (Green PIN)

  • Step 2: Insert your BOI debit card into the ATM and remove it promptly.

  • Step 5: Select 'Generate OTP.' An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Step 6: Reinsert your debit card into the ATM and select your preferred language again.
  • Step 7: Choose the 'Validate OTP' option.
  • Step 8: Enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile and press 'Continue.'

Security Tips for Bank of India ATM PIN Management

Protecting your financial assets requires making sure your Bank of India (BOI) ATM Personal Identification Number (PIN) is secure. The following are crucial pointers for efficient ATM PIN management:

Keep Your PIN Confidential

  • Never share your PIN with anyone, including family members, friends, or bank staff.

  • Refrain from writing down your PIN or storing it in easily accessible places.

Be Cautious During PIN Entry

  • When entering your PIN at an ATM or point-of-sale terminal, shield the keypad with your hand to prevent others from observing.

  • Stay alert to your surroundings and be wary of individuals standing too close.

Regularly Change Your PIN

  • Periodically update your PIN to reduce the risk of unauthorised access.

  • Avoid reusing previous PINs or simple patterns.

Monitor Your Account Activity

  • Regularly review your bank statements and transaction alerts for any unauthorised activities.

  • Immediately report suspicious transactions to BOI's customer service.

Be Vigilant Against Skimming Devices

  • Inspect ATMs for unusual attachments or signs of tampering before inserting your card.

  • If the card reader or keypad appears altered, refrain from using the machine and notify the bank.

Use Secure ATMs

  • Prefer ATMs located within bank premises or well-lit, secure areas.

  • Avoid using ATMs in isolated or dimly lit locations, especially during late hours.
