FAQs

How do I apply for an International Driving Permit?
Apply at your RTO with a valid Indian driving licence, passport copy, visa copy, passport-size photos and the prescribed fee. Processing times vary by office.

How do I convert a foreign driving licence to an Indian licence?
Present the foreign licence, a verified translation if needed, passport and visa, and follow RTO instructions, which may include a local driving test or endorsement.

Can I add a heavy vehicle class to my existing light vehicle licence?
You must apply for the addition of a class, undergo the prescribed driving test for the heavy vehicle category and pay the applicable fee for endorsement.

What is the quick way to verify the authenticity of an RC using QR / e-RC features?
Scan the QR code printed on the physical RC or use the Parivahan app’s RC verification feature. The QR leads to an authenticated government record (if the card/RC is the newer e-RC format). Keep the RC QR visible to avoid fraud disputes.

How to convert a private vehicle into a commercial/contract carriage vehicle (taxi/auto) in Haryana?
The owner must apply for change of category at RTO, produce fitness certificate, pay applicable road tax/fees difference and get the vehicle inspected. Commercial conversion usually requires additional permits and insurance adjustments.

My vehicle was financed and the financier says loan is closed, how do I get the NOC/No Lien entry on RC?
Obtain the lender’s NOC (or lien release certificate) and submit it to the RTO along with Form 35/other state form to remove hypothecation. Once processed, the RC will be updated to show no finance lien.

What steps do I take if my vehicle’s HSRP (High Security Registration Plate) was fitted incorrectly or the QR/laser code is unreadable?
Lodge a complaint with the HSRP vendor (details on the Haryana portal), take photos, and apply for replacement HSRP at the vendor’s authorized center or through the HSRP grievance mechanism. Keep payment receipts and complaint reference for follow-up.
