Use the YONO SBI App to submit your updated documents digitally.

Users often choose the YONO app when their schedule is busy and they want to complete the KYC process quickly and comfortably.

Visit SBI Online using your desktop or laptop for KYC updates.

Many customers update KYC through Internet Banking when they already have scanned documents ready and prefer completing everything on a larger screen.

Offline

Visit your registered home branch with original and self-attested copies of KYC documents.

Some people visit the home branch when they want personal guidance from staff while updating multiple KYC documents at the same time.

Email or Post

Send scanned copies of documents to your branch’s official email ID. Check through the SBI branch locator.

Customers living far from their home branch often use email or post to send their KYC documents without travelling long distances.

Select the channel that best fits your needs because all of them provide the same level of data security and verification.

Required Documents for SBI KYC Update

Purpose

1

PAN Card

Customers use PAN when updating financial information to ensure their bank records match correctly with existing income tax databases.

2

Aadhaar Card

Many users select Aadhaar for KYC because it conveniently provides both updated identity information and proof of their latest residential address.

3

Passport

NRIs commonly provide their passport as it contain validated residential details, international travel identity, and updated nationality information.

4

Voter ID / Driving Licence

People often use a voter ID or a driving licence when they need strong government-issued documents that clearly confirm their current residence.

5

Utility Bill (Electricity/Water)

Utility bills are preferred when someone has recently shifted homes and needs a fresh document reflecting their new residential address for verification.

6

Bank Passbook (Photo page)

A passbook is used when other address proofs are missing, offering a simple alternative for confirming the customer’s registered residential details.

7

Recent Photograph

A recent photograph helps the bank verify identity by matching the customer’s latest appearance with the details provided in their account records.

SBI updates its list of accepted documents on a regular basis. You can always confirm the most recent requirements on the official SBI KYC document page.

Bonus Tip: SBI is rolling out a “single-window KYC” system by March 2026. Under this initiative, you will only need to complete KYC once to access all SBI products, eliminating repeated re-KYC requests.

FAQs on SBI KYC Update

How can we update our SBI KYC online?

You can update your SBI KYC online through the YONO SBI app or SBI Internet Banking. Upload your ID and address proof, confirm your details, and complete the OTP verification. The bank reviews your documents and updates your KYC status.

What if my KYC gets rejected?

You’ll get an SMS or email if SBI rejects it. This can happen due to invalid or expired documents. Re-upload the valid ones or visit your branch to resolve the issue.

How effective is the KYC update for SBI using the ATM?
The KYC update through an SBI ATM is not very effective, because ATMs only allow you to update limited details like your mobile number. SBI still requires online submission or a branch visit with valid documents for full KYC updates. It is useful only for small changes, not for completing a full KYC update.

How can I check my KYC status at SBI?
You can check your SBI KYC status through the YONO SBI app, SBI Internet Banking, or by visiting your home branch. Open the profile or personal details section, and your current KYC status will be displayed.

How long does it take to update KYC in SBI through the bank?
The KYC update usually takes 2–5 working days after submission. You’ll receive an acknowledgment through SMS or email from SBI after the verification is done.
