A KCC account number is the same numeric identifier your bank assigns to your Kisan Credit Card cash credit account. It is not a separate numbering system. It follows the same format as any other account at that bank, because the Kisan Credit Card Scheme is implemented by Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Small Finance Banks and Cooperatives, each running its own core banking system.
A KCC account number identifies the specific cash credit account opened under your Kisan Credit Card facility. It is not a separate card number system.
The Kisan Credit Card Scheme was introduced in 1998 to give farmers timely credit for cultivation expenses, and was extended to cover investment credit for allied activities in 2004. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a Revised Kisan Credit Card Scheme on December 18, 2020, simplifying the application process. Every bank that sanctions a KCC opens a revolving cash credit account for the farmer. That account gets a number from the bank's own core banking system, following the exact same rules as a savings or current account at that bank.
A KCC account number is built from branch, product, and customer-serial digits, arranged differently by each bank's core banking system.
There is no RBI-mandated universal structure for KCC accounts. The RBI Master Circular on the KCC Scheme leaves account numbering to individual banks, while standardising the credit limit, insurance, and renewal rules across lenders.
Any bank that sanctions your Kisan Credit Card issues the account number at the branch where you applied.
Eligible lenders include Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Small Finance Banks and Cooperatives. RBI supervises commercial bank KCC accounts, and NABARD supervises RRBs and cooperatives. The number is generated the moment your application is approved, and the cash credit account is opened in your name.
Your KCC account number appears on the physical KCC passbook issued at sanction, and on your RuPay KCC card sleeve.
Your KCC account number is linked to your sanctioned credit limit, crop details, land records, and insurance cover.
You use your KCC account number to draw funds, repay loans, and receive subsidy or interest subvention credits.

An incorrect KCC account number causes a fund transfer or subsidy credit to fail, or land in the wrong account. Always match the number against your passbook or net banking screen before sharing it for NEFT, RTGS, or subsidy purposes.
No. Your KCC account is a separate cash credit account, even if it shares the same CIF as your savings account at the same bank.
Yes. Since the Kisan Credit Card Scheme runs across Commercial Banks, RRBs, Small Finance Banks and Cooperatives, each with its own core banking system, the account number format varies by bank rather than following one national standard.
