You can add a beneficiary in the SBI YONO Lite app by going to Profile Management, selecting Add/Manage Beneficiary, entering your profile password, choosing State Bank Account or Other Bank Account, and confirming with an OTP. SBI's customer care confirms that a cooling period of 1 hour applies if you add a beneficiary between 6 AM and 8 PM.
If you send money through SBI YONO Lite often enough, you'll eventually need to add a beneficiary before transferring to a new account. This one's for SBI customers across India who want the actual, accurate steps for adding a beneficiary in YONO Lite, taken directly from the bank's own customer care page. This guide walks through the full process, the daily limits, the cooling period, and how to edit a beneficiary afterwards.
It means registering an account you send money to often, so YONO Lite doesn't require you to type out their bank details every time you make a transfer to them.
Once a beneficiary's added and activated, you can send them funds without typing out their bank details all over again. This step exists purely as a safety measure, giving the bank a window to catch anything suspicious before a transfer to a brand new account actually clears.

Log in to YONO Lite, go to Fund Transfer and Add/Manage Beneficiary, enter your profile password, then pick the correct account category before entering the beneficiary's details.
Here's how that plays out, as per SBI's customer care page:
Once you've submitted and verified with OTP, your beneficiary is activated according to the cooling period rules below.
You can add up to 4 beneficiaries in the State Bank Account category, and 4 more in the Other Bank Account category, in a single day.
This limit applies separately to each category. So you could technically add 4 SBI account beneficiaries and 4 beneficiaries from other banks on the same day, 8 total. If you need more than that, you'll simply have to wait until the next day.
1 hour is the cooling period after adding a beneficiary in SBI YONO Lite if you add the beneficiary between 6 AM and 8 PM. Add them outside that window, and activation shifts to the next day after 6 AM.
This cooling period works as a security buffer, giving the system time to confirm the addition's genuine before letting transfers through to that new account. Add your beneficiary within the 6 AM to 8 PM window, and you'll be sending money sooner. Miss that window, and you're waiting until the following morning.

Here is how it works as per the SBI website:
Nothing gets activated, and there's no way to send money to that beneficiary through YONO Lite.
SBI requires OTP verification at this step. Skip it, or miss the confirmation window, and the registration stays incomplete. You'll need to re-enter the beneficiary's details and verify with OTP again before any transfer goes through.
There are four key stages to follow if you want to add a beneficiary on the SBI YONO Lite app: Profile Management, Add/Manage Beneficiary, your profile password, and OTP. Do not forget that you have to comply with the daily limitation of 4 beneficiaries in each category. Add your beneficiary between 6 AM and 8 PM if you want the 1 hour cooling period instead of waiting until the next morning.
Log in, go to Fund Transfer, then Add/Manage Beneficiary. Type in your profile password and click on Add, followed by the account type and other required information, including name, account number, transfer limit, and IFSC for other bank accounts.
You can add up to 4 beneficiaries under State Bank Account and 4 under Other Bank Account.
1 hour is the cooling period after adding a beneficiary if added between 6 AM and 8 PM, or the next day after 6 AM if added outside that window.
No, decreasing the limit doesn't need OTP, and it applies immediately.
Yes. Raising the limit needs OTP verification before the new amount applies.
The beneficiary never gets activated, and you'll need to start the process over.
Yes, just select "Other Bank Account" when you're adding them.
You can find it under "Fund Transfer," then "Add/Manage Beneficiary," in the YONO Lite app.
No. The cooling period has to pass before any transfer to that beneficiary goes through.
Name, account number, and a transfer limit are required for an SBI account. Name, account number, transfer limit, and IFSC code (address is optional). Both require OTP verification are required for another bank's account.
