The introduction of electronic toll collecting systems like FASTag has significantly improved India's road infrastructure in recent years. Because of this development, traffic at toll plazas has significantly decreased, making travel more efficient.
For example, the average wait time at toll plazas was around 12 minutes before FASTag's broad implementation. But since this technology was introduced, the average waiting time has dropped by 93% to just 47 seconds.
These upgrades support the nation's larger objectives of infrastructure development and digitisation, in addition to improving convenience for tourists like Akash.
Akash, who was annoyed by the delays, learnt about AU Bank's NETC FASTag, a prepaid rechargeable tag that employs RFID technology to enable continuous, automated toll payments. The process was quick and easy because the costs were taken straight out of his linked wallet.
The immediate SMS alerts that Akash received on his registered mobile number for each toll payment and low balance notification were what he valued most. He was informed and ready thanks to this function, which made sure he never had to deal with an interruption brought on by poor balance.
Akash had a different travel experience after installing the FASTag. He now saved more than an hour each time he went through toll plazas. He was constantly informed by the rapid alerts, which made travel hassle-free and allowed for timely recharges. By adopting this technology, Akash not only increased his output but also helped the country's drive for road efficiency and digitisation.

Q. Is FASTag working on all State Highway tolls?
All toll plazas run by the National Highway Authority of India and a few State Highways where it has been deployed are compatible with FASTag.
Q. I have two vehicles. Can I use one FASTag for two vehicles?
Only one tag may be used for a single vehicle. Once attached to the car's windscreen, the tag cannot be taken off because it will get damaged and no longer be valid for subsequent payments.
Q. What is the meaning of tag blacklisted? What can be done to avoid the Blacklist of tag?
A blacklisted tag indicates that the car is not permitted to use FASTag to pay at the toll booth. Tag may be blacklisted for a number of reasons, such as having insufficient funds in their FASTag account.
When notified of a low balance, please recharge the tag to prevent it from being blacklisted. Additionally, if a regulation violation complaint is filed against the vehicle, law enforcement agencies have the authority to blacklist the car's FASTag.
Q. What do I have to do if I have lost/ damaged my RFID Tag? What will happen to the account balance?
Please notify us right away if your tag or vehicle is damaged or lost by contacting 1800 258 7300 or going to the closest bank office. You can also ask to have the tag blacklisted so that no more transactions are permitted on the FASTag.
The remaining balance in your FASTag account will be blocked. You can request a withdrawal of the remaining balance or apply for a new FASTag and have the remaining amount transferred to the new FASTag account.
Q. My FASTag delivery is delayed. What can I do?
FASTag will be given to you at the time of request if you purchased it at a branch. If you apply online, your registered address will receive your FASTag. Please contact the bank's customer care line at 1800 258 7300 to file a complaint about the FASTag's delayed delivery if you do not receive it.
Q. What if there is a double deduction of toll charges?
Please call 1800 258 7300 to report the double deduction issue to our customer care line. After reviewing the complaint, we will launch a chargeback for the duplicate transaction depending on its merits.
Q. What do I do if there is an incorrect deduction of toll charges?
Please call 1800 258 7300 to speak with our customer care about any inaccurate FASTag deductions. After reviewing your complaint, if required, we will start the chargeback process.
The 1033 helpline has also been established by MoRTH, NHAI, and IHMCL to address problems pertaining to toll plazas, such as banned tags, FASTag non-acceptance, or problems with monthly passes. Press 1033 to get help. The matter should be escalated to the Regional Nodal Officer and then, after seven more days, to the Principal Nodal Officer if it is not resolved.
