A week that begins with regional holidays and ends with the usual weekend break is set to guide branch access across many states.
A simple question sits before many account holders as the month turns. What will bank schedules look like during the first week of December? The updated holiday sheets used for the 2025 cycle show clear entries.
1 December 2025 is a holiday in Arunachal Pradesh for Indigenous Faith Day. 3 December 2025 is a holiday in Goa for the Feast of St. Francis Xavier. 6 and 7 December 2025 fall on the regular weekend closure. This defines the bank holidays next week and shapes how customers prepare for transactions.
A schedule shared earlier in the year under the Negotiable Instruments Act showed that Goa would have a holiday on 3 December, with a weekend break following on 6 and 7 December. A review of the December list also showed that different states have holidays spread across the month. The north-eastern region noted a holiday on 1 December as well.
These dates are important because they affect the timing of deposits and the clearance of cheques in many districts. Customers who depend on branch counters in Goa and Arunachal Pradesh may see short delays in cash deposits and other branch-based services during these days.
The table below shows the state wise bank holiday list for 1 to 7 December 2025:
Most other states will have normal branch hours until Saturday. ATMs and online platforms stay active which helps users manage payments without disruption.
The next part breaks down the system that decides these holiday entries.
Holiday classification follows a fixed rule book used every year. A bank holiday is a date on which branch counters close due to national orders, state notifications or fixed weekly rules. National holidays appear on the central list. State holidays come through state government circulars. Weekly closures cover Sundays and specific Saturdays as per the RBI framework.
These groups form the base of every annual holiday chart prepared before the start of each year. Banks use these lists to plan staff workdays, clearing cycles and ATM refilling schedules.
This framework explains why some states open while others shut. It also shows why the first week of December records only three dates.
A story published on Loansjagat in September 2025 explained the effect of weekend rules on monthly banking cycles. It pointed to the rush seen on Fridays and the slowdown on Mondays. That story helps explain why customers may try to finish deposit work by 5 December 2025 before the weekend pause on 6 and 7 December.
The bank holidays next week include only three closures. Two are regional and one is the nationwide weekend. Branches in Goa and Arunachal Pradesh will close on their declared dates. Other states will see regular hours until Saturday.
Customers who depend on branch counters can complete their work before the weekend. Digital platforms will continue to support payments, transfers and essential services through the entire week.
