Ravishankar A. took charge as Godrej Agrovet’s CFO on 1 October 2026 after a long Unilever finance career, replacing S. Varadaraj following his early retirement.
Key Highlights
Mumbai-based Godrej Agrovet named 1 October 2026 as Ravishankar A.’s start date as Chief Financial Officer in its board-meeting disclosure dated 5 August 2026. He has now taken over following S. Varadaraj’s early superannuation.
Ravishankar said he would work towards Godrej Agrovet’s growth ambitions and create long-term value for stakeholders. His experience includes investor relations as well as procurement finance and business performance. The company’s operations span animal nutrition and crop protection, alongside oil palm, dairy and frozen foods.
Before his final Unilever assignment, Ravishankar served as Group Financial Controller and Head of Investor Relations at Hindustan Unilever. From March 2024 until September 2026, he was Unilever’s Vice President, Finance, Beauty & Wellbeing, South Asia. He held this role from March 2024 to September 2026, having previously served at Hindustan Unilever as Group Financial Controller and Head of Investor Relations.
He also worked in global procurement finance at Unilever. Financial planning and analysis, along with performance management, also formed part of his responsibilities. He also held responsibilities involving global packaging and indirect procurement, India’s refreshment business, treasury and insurance, and global markets.
For Godrej Agrovet, that background brings experience across both operating finance and communication with investors. Our reading of the appointment is that his procurement and performance-management work deserves particular attention alongside his investor relations experience. It connects his career directly with the financial oversight of several different businesses. This is an editorial assessment of his background.
Ravishankar attributed his decision to the company’s purpose and its involvement in India’s agricultural economy. He also pointed to the Godrej Group’s values and long-term approach.
In his announcement, Ravishankar talked about more than 20 years at Unilever in different jobs and in different parts of the world. He thanked the people, the experiences and the lessons from that time for helping shape his life. He said he was excited to work with Godrej Agrovet’s leadership and with the colleagues to grow and to build value that lasts.
Godrej Agrovet’s board approved the appointment following the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation. The August disclosure set out the following sequence.
The appointment disclosure identifies Varadaraj’s outgoing position as Chief Financial Officer & Head – Finance & Legal. Ravishankar’s designated role is Chief Financial Officer.
Before Unilever, Ravishankar worked in software engineering at IGATE from July 2003 to June 2004. His entry into Unilever came in 2006 as a business leadership trainee.
Ravi studied electronics engineering at the University of Kerala for his B.Tech. He also studied finance and marketing at IIM Lucknow for his PGDM. His career subsequently moved through business finance and international procurement assignments before his latest South Asia leadership role.
Ravishankar’s arrival follows the succession schedule approved in August. He takes on the finance role with experience across Unilever’s businesses and a stated intention to support Godrej Agrovet’s growth. His announcement places the emphasis on working with the existing leadership and building long-term stakeholder value.
Ravishankar A. became Godrej Agrovet’s Chief Financial Officer on 1 October 2026.
He succeeded S. Varadaraj, whose early superannuation took effect at the close of business on 30 September 2026.
He was Vice President, Finance, Beauty & Wellbeing, South Asia, from March 2024 to September 2026.
He has a PGDM in finance and marketing from IIM Lucknow, and a B.Tech in electronics engineering from the University of Kerala.
