Consumers can now pay their electricity bills online, avoiding long queues. This convenient method also offers benefits like special discounts, cashback, and reward points, making bill payment easier and more rewarding.

There are four ways to pay the electricity bill online. Each method requires the consumer to have a robust internet connection and a registered username.
Step 1: Log in to the official website of the respective electricity board, which is also governed by the respective State Government.
Step 2: Create a username and password of your own.
Disclaimer: On this step, you need to furnish your consumer number. The online portal will verify it by validating with One-Time Password (OTP) through the registered mobile number.
Step 3: After accessing into the portal of your account, navigate to the options like “Pay Bill” or “Online Payment.”
Step 4: On this page, you need to select the preferred gateway to conduct the payment.

Step 6: Furnish your details, such as card number, CVV number, and net banking credentials to initiate the payment.
Step 7: The portal will verify your confirmation via One-Time Password to your registered mobile number or email address.
Disclaimer: Some of the portals will ask the users on their preferred choice to validate the OTP, by email address or mobile number.
Step 8: Enter the amount and initiate the payment.
After successfully paying the bill, the portal will fetch the payment receipt, which is downloadable in Portable Document Format (PDF).
This is the most preferred method to pay the electricity bill. Because one can instantly access the mobile wallet application and furnish the consumer number to initiate the payment seamlessly.
Step 1: Download the preferred mobile application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Step 2: Create the secret credentials for logging and also to verify the mobile number.
Step 3: Validate your bank account with the OTP sent by the internet server of your mobile application.
Step 4: After completing the logging process, navigate to options like “Electricity” or “Bill Payments.”
Step 5: Select the respective option found in your mobile wallet application.
Step 6: On the next interface, choose the name of your electricity supplier.
Example: People from Noida should choose “Noida Power (NPCL).”
Step 7: On the next interface, enter your consumer number. The portal may ask you to furnish your name.
Step 8: Select the option “Continue” or “Submit,” whichever is available.
Step 9: Enter the respective amount that needs to be paid, and select continue.
Step 10: Enter your Mpin to initiate the payment.
After a successful transaction, it is advisable to take note of the reference number of the transaction.

Step 2: Navigate to the option “Quick Pay” or “Pay Using UPI/QR,” and click it.
Step 3: Enter the consumer number and captcha code.
Step 4: Click “Submit.”
Step 5: An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number to verify your consumer name.
Step 6: The QR code will be displayed on the page’s payment portal.
Step 7: Scan the QR code.
Step 8: Enter the amount and initiate the payment.
Disclaimer: The options to choose this method of payment will vary from each electricity board of the respective states. Therefore, the consumers should adhere to the respective changes.
Step 1: Visit the official website of the internet banking of your preferred bank.
Step 2: Log in to your internet banking portal with your secret credentials and OTP.
Step 3: Navigate the cursor to the header of the website, for the option “Bill Payments.”
Step 4: A drop-down menu will be displayed. Under that, click “Pay Bills.”
Step 5: On the next page, the bank website informs you about various kinds of payments that can be made using the internet banking. Click “Continue” or “Proceed.”
Step 6: On the next page, select “Electricity.”
Step 7: Under this payment interface, you need to enter the electricity board’s name.
Step 8: The date for auto-debit must be selected. Followed by that, select the savings bank account number from which the amount will be deducted.
Step 9: Click “Save” after completing all the procedures.
The long queues for bill payment always frustrate people like Kumar, who has zero tolerance towards them.
