ICICI Bank heads into its June-quarter result with lending growth doing much of the work. Brokerage forecasts put NII growth at roughly 10%. Profit may still remain near ₹13,100 crore, mainly because provisions are unlikely to stay as low as they were in March and the lending margin could slip a little.
Key Highlights
ICICI Bank’s board will consider the bank’s April-June 2026 standalone and consolidated results on Saturday, 18 July 2026. The US Securities and Exchange Commission filing dated 25 June 2026 confirms the result date. Brokerage forecasts published on 16 July place net interest income growth near 10%, but standalone profit may remain around ₹13,100 crore because margins could soften and provisions may return to a more usual level.
The result will influence the bank’s shares first. Customers may feel the effect later through loan pricing, deposit offers and approval checks. Strong lending can keep credit available for homes, vehicles, farms and small firms. When deposits lag loans, though, a bank may pay more for funds or charge riskier borrowers a wider spread.

The forecast rests on loan volumes. ICICI Bank ended March 2026 with total loans of ₹15,53,893 crore, up 15.8% from a year earlier. Its official performance review, released on 18 April 2026, showed business banking growth of 24.4%, rural loan growth of 25.6%, retail growth of 9.5% and domestic corporate growth of 9.3%. Demand was spread across household, farm, small-business and corporate accounts.
India’s wider credit cycle also supports the earnings case. A Press Information Bureau release from the Ministry of Finance dated 5 May 2026 reported 15.9% growth in scheduled commercial banks’ non-food credit during FY2025-26. That gives ICICI Bank room to expand interest-earning assets, even when the return earned on each rupee of lending becomes slightly thinner.
Analysts quoted by Business Standard on 16 July 2026 expect NII to rise about 10% year-on-year and 3% to 4% from the March quarter. Axis Direct estimated PAT at ₹13,062 crore. While Deven Choksey Research projected ₹13,093 crore. Both forecasts imply a small yearly rise and a 4% to 5% sequential fall. These are projections, not reported earnings.
Borrowers are unlikely to see an immediate change in existing EMIs after one quarterly result. The bigger shift could appear in fresh applications. A bank facing margin pressure may reserve its best pricing for salaried applicants, established businesses and customers with strong repayment records. Self-employed borrowers, unsecured loan applicants and firms with uneven cash flows may face closer checks or a higher rate.
There is a positive side. ICICI Bank’s expansion in business and rural lending shows that credit is reaching beyond large companies. Small manufacturers may use it for working capital, while traders may finance stock purchases. Rural borrowers may seek crop, equipment or enterprise loans. Depositors, meanwhile, may see banks compete harder for stable funds. ICICI Bank’s deposits grew 11.4% in March 2026, slower than its loan book, while average CASA was 38.6%. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said on 13 July 2026 that retail inflation reached 4.38% in June and food inflation was 5.32%. Households facing higher daily costs may compare fixed-deposit rates more closely before locking away savings.
Deven Choksey Research sees the reported NIM near 4.25%, while Axis Direct expects a largely stable result within 2 basis points. Nomura expects strong loan growth at ICICI Bank but sees margins moderating across lenders. Kotak Institutional Equities said any negative surprise in the banking quarter could come from NIM contraction. Motilal Oswal’s channel checks found firm MSME credit demand and longer working-capital cycles in April-June. Vaqarjaved Khan, Senior Fundamental Analyst at Angel One, also placed ICICI Bank favourably among large private lenders because wholesale and retail operations were contributing together. These are market views, not company guidance.
ICICI Bank can protect earnings by growing current and savings deposits, avoiding poorly priced loans and watching new stress closely. Fee income can reduce reliance on lending spreads as well. A LoansJagat Q1 FY27 banking earnings analysis reaches a similar view: loan demand remains healthy, but expensive deposits can reduce the income retained from that growth. For borrowers, the reading is fairly direct. Faster loan growth does not guarantee cheaper credit. Better deposits and contained slippages can support competitive pricing, while weakness in either area may slow approvals for riskier profiles.

ICICI Bank reported Q4 FY26 standalone PAT of ₹13,702 crore, NII of ₹22,979 crore and a NIM of 4.32% in its performance review released on 18 April 2026. Provisions fell to ₹96 crore after recoveries and write-backs. That small charge makes the June-quarter sequential comparison harder, even before any change in the lending business.
The table separates brokerage forecasts from figures already reported by the bank. Forecasts can change before the result and should not be presented as confirmed earnings.
The comparison shows why a lower sequential profit need not signal a weak quarter. Normalised provisions can reduce PAT while NII still grows. The reading changes if fresh bad-loan additions rise sharply, margins fall more than expected or deposits remain well behind advances.
Investors will track the NIM outlook, deposit growth, CASA movement, unsecured retail exposure and seasonal Kisan Credit Card slippages. They will also listen for management comments on lending yields. ICICI Bank’s media call is scheduled for 4 PM on 18 July, followed by its analyst and investor call at 5 PM, according to the US SEC filing dated 15 July 2026.
Customers should watch a different set of signals. Deposit competition can support fixed-deposit offers. Better asset quality can keep the lender open to fresh business. Rising credit costs may bring stricter underwriting, especially for unsecured and irregular-income borrowers. The reported quarter is only part of the story. Management’s comments may reveal more about the next 6 months.
ICICI Bank’s Q1 FY27 preview points to steady core banking income, supported by loan growth across retail, business, rural and corporate accounts. NII may rise by about 10%. Profit growth looks far smaller because the margin may soften and provisions are expected to move up from Q4’s unusually low level.
The strongest result would pair higher NII with stable bad loans, better deposit growth and a NIM close to the March reading. A weaker margin or sharp rise in slippages would change the tone. Borrowers should watch loan pricing and approval standards, while depositors may find fresh competition for stable savings.
