There is no “Gruha Lakshmi Loan Scheme” announced by any authority. Fraudsters are advertising loans ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹3 lakhs under this scheme in social media posts, revealed the officials of Mysuru city administration.
It is noteworthy here that the increasing risk of digital fraud related to government welfare schemes poses a serious threat to victims. If the targeted individuals or families believe such false promises, they are likely to suffer from economic loss, personal information leakage or bank account breach.
The Karnataka government’s official Gruha Lakshmi Scheme provides ₹2,000 each month for the benefit of eligible women heads of households in the form of direct benefit transfer (DBT). It was introduced to support the monthly expenses of women heads of households.
It has been strongly recommended by authorities not to download any unknown APK file, not to provide OTP to others and refrain from providing bank details to strangers. They also advised not to remit any payments to the agents arranging loan amounts under this scheme.
According to cybersecurity experts, scamsters always take advantage of government initiatives and schemes in order to earn the trust of citizens. Such offers always involve charges or demands for OTPs, Aadhaar numbers and bank account details, etc., from the customers.
An easy way to avoid such fraud schemes is to verify all related information carefully. Trust the information only if it has been released by the concerned government department through an official order or website.
Moreover, officials have asked banks to stop forcibly deducting Gruha Lakshmi assistance amounts from beneficiaries’ bank accounts. This measure is intended to prevent the recovery of past loan dues from the scheme's financial assistance.
This warning by Mysuru authorities clearly states that Gruha Lakshmi Scheme is only a monthly aid scheme for beneficiaries and not a loan scheme. Therefore, individuals must be careful before believing such claims and verifying them.
Is the Gruha Lakshmi Loan Scheme offering loan of ₹30,000 to ₹3 Lakh?
No, the officials have cleared there is no such government loan scheme by the name Gruha Lakshmi Loan Scheme. The original Gruha Lakshmi Scheme offers just ₹2000 per month to women who are eligible to receive the money via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
