Digital banking has become a crucial investment tool in rural India. While the Indian economy is booming in 2024, digital banking is also picking up, though it still faces a few challenges.
According to a 2022 Assocham and PwC study, mobile banking transactions in rural areas have grown by more than 200% in the past three years. This clearly indicates how the trend of digital banking is being adopted in rural sectors.
The same aim drives Tamil Nadu Grama Bank (TNGB) towards making banking services simple and accessible to everyone. Anytime, anywhere, customers can access banking services. The bank’s objective is to offer easy-to-use services at an affordable rate. TNGB is focused on reaching every nook and cranny of the state.
Pallavan Grama Bank and Pandyan Grama Bank were merged to form a new bank known as TNGB on 1 April 2019. Six months after its merger, TNGB adopted a new system called BaNCS, which ensured the smooth functioning of the bank.
Eventually, TNGB introduced net banking and other online facilities for its customers. TNGB is a regional rural bank based in Salem, Tamil Nadu. This bank is owned jointly by the central and state governments, with Indian Bank as its sponsoring bank.
